Humorously Help You Navigate Through an Ever-Growing Maze of iPhone Apps
There is irony that a printed engage is one of the better ways to explore the possibility of the iPhone, but Josh Clark's remarkably readable tome is a terrific resource on what he considers the most desirable programs to download across a variety of categories. Without doubt, Clark cannot keep up with the number of apps popping up, but he has done as thorough job as credible given the over 50,000 programs available currently through the Apps Aggregate.
He is concise in his summaries and still shows off a sharp sagacity of humor, for example, "Park n' Find" ($1.99) helps you find your car in a indeterminate lot, and "SitOrSquat" (Free) pinpoints the closest universal restroom, which includes a blog of toilet humor for sizeable bathroom reading if necessary. The breadth is extremely startling from tracking airline flights ("FlightTrack Pro", $4.99) to reporting Elvis sightings ("Elvis Nimble", Free). Some of Clark's choices are arguable, of course, but it's hardbitten to beat the easy readability and genuine practicability of his small, 228-page book.

An choice place to start for new iPhone owners.
When a box of O'Reilly books descended upon my desk, the rules that caught my eye because of it's full color contents and beautiful shroud was "Best iPhone Apps" by Josh Clark. From the front wrap alone, I recognized about half of the apps that were going to be reviewed. I have to accept, I am iPhone app junky. I have pages upon pages of apps installed on my first begetting iPhone, and am always reading the internet for reviews and suggestions for more and more apps to try.
Truthfully, I didn't intend that a book on iPhone apps was such a great idea. Apps succeed and go at a rather quick rate on the iTunes store. What's in today could be out tomorrow. But with all things, those of quintessence have a way of sticking around. I am online enough that I get my recommendations for apps so I didn't mark that a book would help me much.
Then I loaned the book for the weekend to a new iPhone alcohol. A coworker had just gotten his government issued iPhone a week before, and he was looking for suggestions on apps to try out. After wealthy through the book, he came back to work on Monday having filled out five pages on his iPhone with new apps as suggested in this volume. He couldn't say enough nice things about being able to sit on the settee, flip through the book, then go to the app store on his iPhone and download app after app.
The volume is organized by into seven major categories of apps. Each of those categories is further subdivided the win out over 8 or 9 apps in that category. Each app gets a full-page description including strainer captures, summary, pricing and app developer friend information. For most of the best of apps, the picks are apps that I currently already use, so it would seem that I accede to with Mr. Clark's best of selection process.
I would persuade this book to someone new to the iPhone and someone who would rather flip through a book than around the various iPhone app review sites on the internet to get started on their iPhone app assemblage.

Being a new P of an iPhone, I was so impressed with this book. It offered me the conversance I needed to get the most out of my phone. I highly recommend this earmark to anyone who is new to the iPhone or iPod Touch. The wealth of information contained in this one work is invaluable.
Skilful as an idea book...
for aspiring IPhone app writers. This was what I bought this paperback for and this is the way in which I use it. Thus, you may or may not be frustrated with it if you are looking for good apps to use, but I thought it was positively excellent as a means of prodding my imagination as a programmer, to see what is already out there, and to see how apps might be combined or improved upon. One reviewer said this list does not have an index, and I'm not sure what he/she is talking about, because it does have an forefinger of sorts. The index consists of an alphabetical listing of IPhone apps, and from their names it is fairly easy to tell what most of them do. I can then turn to the page for that app, get an thought of what the interface looks like, and see if maybe a new app can be written that builds upon its capabilities or perhaps it gives me inspiration for something completely new and different.
As far as books that give you "the in the most suitable way IPhone apps", I'm not sure why a user would buy such a book and conjecture the latest information. You're only going to find that with an online search. It rather reminds me of those "Internet Phone Books" that acquainted with to be published regularly back in the early web era of the mid 1990's. They were as per usual outdated as soon as they were published.
Thus, if you are a developer looking for ideas and consumer interface examples, I think it's great. If you're looking for a opportune book for good apps in such a fast-paced milieu as the IPhone, I don't think it is possible to write and put out such a book in a conventional fashion.

Purchased the IPOD Touch for my daughter on her 18th Birthday. She is very ecstatic with it and has even shown me how to use it. The sound is great and the video very clear. It is a wonderful spin-off. It was easy to use right out of the box. It is easy to read and use for someone that is older and sometimes has a incorrigible with electronic things.

Delighted Birthday
Purchased the IPOD Touch for my daughter on her 18th Birthday. She is very jubilant with it and has even shown me how to use it. The sound is great and the video exceedingly clear. I followed up with the bargain pruchase of some of the accessaries through AMAZON.com. We couldn't be more all hot and pleased with the entire system.

iphone apps paperback
I am a new itouch possessor and I found this book helpful because it gave me a place to start to find apps that would be beneficial to me. The layout is good. The book is divided into extraordinary sections such as exercise apps, time management and games ect. It tabulation 5 or 6 apps under each section in detail plus gives a smaller nature of several more. There are full color pictures as well as a helpful hint at the bottom of each app. I have downloaded for furlough or bought a number of the apps listed in the book and have not been disillusioned with any of them. If your new to using apps It's a great book if you have been downloading apps for a sustained time it's probably too basic a book for you. Extra being in a book form it allowed me to continue to find info on feasible apps even when I was somewhere I could not use my itouch to access the itune store.

Countless resource for unbiased reviews of Apps
This is a critical reference tool with no b.s. This compact hard-cover contains concise summaries of key apps, separates them by type (business, games, social, etc) and let's you know if the app is openly or has a fee. I've looked at numerous App-review sites, but mostly find them to be biased - and since the App store is very crowded, this book cuts valid to the good stuff. The time saved by not searching through the unimportant Apps is definitely worth buying this book.

Leading Purchase For iPhone/iPod/iPad Developers

There's no doubt that the iPhone/iPod/iPad Developers environment for development has been the hottest in quite some time, and this author feels that this is just the tip of the iceberg, and not any kind of fad. Making crucial apps for the user that touches as opposed to moving a mouse is a strange science, a different kind of beast. The feeling that makes this so important, is that we as humans find that touching is more the 'well' way to do things, it just feels 'right' and is easier for all but anyone. If you want to get the most of getting around the interface, creating icons, layouts, anything that relates to this variety of development, you MUST buy this book. Not only will it turn you into a better developer for this rostrum, you will enjoy the writing and overall feel in FULL COLOR.
It's prodigious, now go get it and enjoy the quality yumness of this book!!

A must for unstationary app developers
I've been conniving user interfaces for 25 years and iPhone apps for two years. I picked up "Tapworthy" hoping to find something salutary, but not expecting too much. I was so wrong: Josh Clark nails it. This is currently the maximum effort book on mobile app development. Everybody underhanded iPhone apps (except my competitors) should read it.

Twinkling book
Enlightened book, really enjoyed it, and it gave me loads of ideas of how to come to terms my app better - a lot of them little things I hadn't contemplation about (eg all list items are 44 pixels exuberant. ALL OF THEM).
I'd say this is a fairly non-technical book. I dont about a line of obj-c in it, but there is plenty of info for anyone who is doing any part of an iphone app - ideas, mould, coding, art, whatever.
Covers a lot of concepts.
Pre-ordered this enlist after hearing Josh speak at SXSW. Well value the wait. This book covers all of the basics of iPhone UI but *even more significant* are the first person interviews with guys like Josh Williams (Gowalla CEO) and Joe Hewitt (Facebook app).

If you're a startup, get this paperback. Now.
Here's why: it's not only a renowned guide to what makes iPhone apps successful, but what will increasingly be the way to constitute successful software for any platform. Josh does a preposterous job of getting the reader into the right mindset for creating pre-eminent apps.
This is an interface, big-idea, that's why that design works enlist, not a coding book. Nor is it a "how to market your iPhone app rules". That said, the interviews alone with designers of big important iPhone apps about how they unquestionably designed those apps is worth the price many times over.
Advice: you will probably spend more on buying apps Josh uses as examples of what he is talking about than you will on the earmark itself - I guess the skills he developed writing his last list, "Best Iphone Apps: The Guide for Discriminating Downloaders", gave him five pre-eminent ability for picking great to awesome apps.
Also, while I almost never buy anymore real paper books, this one is worth it - the color, sheen stock, painstaking layout and content design would not be done justice as a .pdf.
I could write a longer review, but I'd rather go back to reading, re-reading, mulling and belief about the what Josh covered in this book. Can't wait for the iPad engage!
