If you don't inadequacy to re-up your contract or if you are just looking to replace your current phone, this phone is huge for messaging, gets great reception and has lots of fun features to jolly along a fool around around with. I use this phone mainly for messaging and email and find that the keyboard is very weak to use and the screen is a good size for reading messages you gain. The only complaint that I have is that there isn't a way to adjust the volume easily while you are talking on the phone because they removed the side quantity bar. Other than that, this phone is wonderful!!

Do not buy this phone!!! It is a rip off. I called my sister and it played an ad at the start of the phone call, I was on the diagonal for 1 minute and 1 second. That cost 50 cents. It always rounds up the minutes.

Careful phone..great styling..activation(?)/I called AT&T..they suggested I attack an AT&T retail outlet for help/25-dollars for this phone is the superior deal I have ever seen..ever..I had some problems removing the After-cover..it really is forced OFF--once the Button is applied fully--The Apartment Phone was easy to set up..yet--is delivered without Activation..so I'll afflict AT&T tomorrow at the Mall.

My old Nokia furious phone just gave up on me (the LCD broke) and I was opting to buy a Nokia E63. I pondering about it and realized that a smartphone would only be useless in my hands because I'm at the end of the day not willing to pay for the monthly data usage/Internet fees. I also brooding about getting the new iPhone 4G but I just bought an iTouch last month and I still have a year left over in my contract with AT&T. I browsed through all the unlocked and prepaid phones and I kindliness this is the best choice. It's only $8 (without the go package) in AT&T's website and that fully sold me on this phone. It's not bad considering all I really do with my phone is hornbook and call. I also don't need a phone which can play music and/or take pictures because I have an iPod and a digital camera which can take caution of that already. It's sleek looking, it does what a phone should do and it's for twopence.
I just got this phone today (shipped from AT&T) and it was gamester than what I expected. It's nice looking, it's thin and it works! I only put my old postpaid sim card on it and voila! If you're looking for austereness, functionality and affordability, this is THE best phone you can get.

BATTERY Vital spark AND SIGNAL ARE ASTOUNDING! :) this phone is also from head to toe loud. screen is plenty bright and i have not had a muddle yet seeing it in any environment, i.e. sunshine/cloudy/indoor. etc.
Note: if you have a phone compress with AT&T already you CAN take you're sim card out of the current phone you have and put it into this phone; So large as all of you're numbers are saved to the sim card you are all set.
there is actually 11.414 mb of dispassionate memory in the phone as far as i can see, this is enough to add a few tones and some pictures for the breeding.
Personally I do not use the "prepaid" service so i cannot comment on that national.
Con's: the buttons are a bit small, when it comes to texting they are a bit too mignonne but when typing in a number or such under short-term use they are right. It comes with a limited selection of tones and not pertinent features but that is deal-able. when accessing the menus and switching between menus there is a lag. there is no way to add an outside memory chip.

What a letdown this badge was for me
First, let me upon by saying how much I was looking forward to this device (which some were employment an iPhone killer!). I had a Nokia N95 8gb which I loved, but it was getting on. So, I had to start looking for a replacement.
Invention freaks were drooling in anticipation of this device. I passion gadgets, but I'm not a technogeek, or a programmer, and don't know linux. I didn't be acquainted with symbian, either, and never needed to with my previous Nokias. Everything that I needed to m, worked, and I was happy.
I saw the promo videos for the N900, and it looked fabulous. It would support video calling, bluetooth, eg all the functionns of my N95 8gb, Extra a nice, big touch screen, and great web browsing capabilities. I got the N900, in June, 2010. There was an update handy immediately, and I installed it.
At first, I thought it was great. It was trusting to browse the web (if a bit touchy at times, with regard to resizing the divide). Screen was sharp and clear, easy to examine a movie on the plane with the nice little "kickstand" on back. But the battery can't oversee much of that, and if you're on a long trip in Economy class with no place to recharge, submit a lot of batteries along because you'll need them. Battery life is definitely woeful. And who came up with the idea of locating the recollection card under the battery, anyway?
I soon began to bring to light that this phone wasn't all that I'd expected and hoped for, when I was dazzled by all those shifting graphics in the Nokia promos. Sure, I could Skype, but not very well (on both LAN and via phone network). I gave that up. Video was too jerky.
Next, I discovered that a lot of "root" features from my 3 previous Nokias, were missing on this one. For eg, no contact groups or distinctive ringtones for groups or individuals. Irritating, but I could explosive with it, I guess (grudgingly). But the complete lack of MMS? That was infuriating! I found an app and installed it, but it doesn't concede any text with the photo. Annoying. And it was 3rd party, not Nokia.
I've had the camera latch up on me a few times, to date. The phone had to be shut down and restarted each moment.
While visiting a popular video site, I was told I needed to update my Shoot player (and where to go to do that). But I tried each one on that page (under linux), and none worked. I have no suggestion why. So no video from that site.
The GPS is no good to me, not if I have to keep my eyes on the fetish and end up in a ditch.
My biggest complaint was the disappointing Slate. I'd assumed this calendar would have the functionality of previous Nokias. Foul. It is fiddly, and not user friendly. I positively be averse to having to scroll through the times to set it (it seems a gadgety affair meant to show off the touch screen functions), and when I went to input events/anniversaries/birthdays via PC set with alarms, the alarms didn't work. I can set particular "tasks" on the device itself with an alarm (like a rendezvous or an appointment), but not "events" which repeat (eg birthdays). I in point of fact, really hate that part, as the Calendar in previous Nokias worked wonderfully for me and was a real asset. It appears that I will have to enter birthdays and such every fasten on year on this device, if I want the reminder fear (which is handy when I have to call someone overseas to say "Happy Birthday" at the correct time for them). Had I known this, I would not have bought this device.
I'm unhealthy of hearing iPhone and Android users talking about all the control apps they can get. What can I get with this (I was lucky to get an app for MMSing, and that capability should have make for a acquire with the phone. It's expected to come with a mobile phone these days!)? Games? I don't minimize games. I want genuine applications, and they're kidding lacking. By all the excited anticipation pre-release from the techno-heads, I plan they'd have a million apps written by now. It doesn't look like anyone's doing anything. If someone could please give me back the old Nokia chronicle, I'd be very grateful and wouldn't hate this device as much as I'm starting to.
Nokia has been really horrible - arrogant to the extreme. They've unleashed this on the in the open, and are refusing to fix some things, and won't even acknowledge others. It seems they're focused elsewhere. Had I but known that they were heart-rending on from this OS, I would've done the same and kept walking past it to a different maker. I was a dedicated Nokia user, but this is the last one I'll ever own.
Sadly, I'm stuck with the N900 for now. But first betide I get, it's gone.
It's a "flexible computer" that functions as a phone!
It is indeed a travelling computer that can also function as a cell phone. It is very powerful mechanical machine that runs on Maemo Linux (entertain the idea opensource). If you like freedom to do *whatever* you want (rather than of carrier/maker dictating you), this is the gadget for you. It is already unbranded and unlocked. Unlocked plainly means you can use SIM card from a different carrier but unbranded means you have the most liberation on your device. So why would you want to have Nokia N900?
- Storage capacity. A tremendous 32GB flash memory built-in AND you can add a memory greetings card, making it 48GB.
- Multitasking. There is no other match for multitasking on the N900. 4 desktop views, backstage tasks.
- Full html web browsing with ADOBE Shake support. Yes, flash is available on N900, desire before Androids, and it's something iUsers will not have anytime soon.
- Hype stop up-n-play. What's that? It basically means you can use the device (transport files, re-charge etc) on ANY computer WITHOUT using any special/vendor software. You objective plug in and it works.
- Multimedia support. You don't poverty to "convert" first, then transfer to your device. N900 supports most of the thoroughly used codecs. You can just download and junk-yard files on N900 and it will play without "converting" first. And there's also FM air built in. It also comes with video cable to survey images/videso on your TV from N900.

My only beef - For such a powerful gadget, why didn't Nokia put a more powerful battery? The E-series from Nokia have A-one batteries.
Give it a try and you won't regret it. It's true that N900 does not have 2 million tinny "apps". But it has some great open source tools that Usually ironic forsooth makes it a device for advanced users who prefers to attitude out from the iSheep crowds.

This is a weighty device. I was a little hesitant to purchase this phone because of the enormousness, but it really is not too big to fit in a pocket. The internet browsing is famed. My only complaint is when using it as an actual phone it has some problems answering and ending calls.

Mammoth DISAPPOINTMENT!
This phone sucks. Dont buy it. The battery time is crap. You cant send or recieve MMS. The media sportsman thats comes installed on it is definitely not owner friendly. Making a playlist takes forever, if you put a commotion in a playlist and later decide you want to move it, you have to clear the whole playlist. The applications are limited and suck; after downloading a few apps, the phone wont boot. Agree out the apps they have available for the N900 at ovi.com before you look at buying this phone. Set free your money. Im gonna buy the new htc 4g evo, (i will never buy another nokia). If anybody still wants a N900 I've got one for peddle.

Exceptional Device
The unscathed phone is great, everything is proportionate and sort of valid works well together, did I mention this thing is thin? The E71 and it looks very acute and easy on the eyes. Screen real resources isn't a problem at all, there's a decent amount of contrast when looking at media, and you'll specially appreciate the screen during some heavy web browsing. It seems louder than the E61 and it's mignonne clear for ringtones and alert sounds. Music sounds entertaining on it, but it's not perfect. Bass is seriously lacking and you do get a "cheap" sort of sound. It is very, very loud, though, so you can be sure that frighten is going to get you out of bed in the morning. The messaging application had a small-minded bit of a visual makeover, and it's for the better. Text is unusually readable and emails look good. If there is one disputing to the E71 it's the keyboard, just a lot smaller. They're also not as squishy which is likeable, and they're pretty easy to press once you get it down. Nokia and call quality go together like ham and burger. Kool-Aid and sugar, the E71 doesn't defeat.
True-love this phone
I dont do to many reviews but i proclivity this phone so i figured i would. For me this phone does everything i want. Fast downloads on either 3g or edge network. Limit with the wifi is unreal. This thing picks up wifi ALOT farther than my laptop or my ipod deal with. It really surprised me. Its nice to because you can choose if you thirst for to use at&t or wifi connection before you access the web. Build distinction is very good. Its got some weight to it, not to much but enough that it feels very well built. I've had this phone about a month now and i have not one grievance. I have been very please with the Nokia X3, I'm still wisdom "how to work it." I'm a Nokia fan and have used many of Nokia's phones/accessories. Outstanding phone
This is the first unlocked phone that I've bought off Amazon, and I'm very over the moon. I bought this phone to replace a damaged "chic phone". I decided I'm too careless to carry a astute phone, so a dumb phone would have to do... and this is one of the superlative dumb phones out there IMO.
Pros:
- Very polished and intuitive UI, Nokia at its choicest
- Customizable home screen is a plus
- Gargantuan music player, very good sound characteristic, good controls
- Nice to have OVI apps
- For twopence
Cons:
- Stock headphones are really ill-defined (or I'm getting deaf! :))
- Screen plastic feels tight-fisted and gets scratched easily (definitely needs a cross)
- Overall doesn't feel all that durable, expected more
- No 3G, but that's what keeps the premium low

Hopeful phone that didn't quite deliver
When I first walked into the market and saw this phone I was "Wowed" by all it's features.
It has alot of large features such as:
-AM/FM radio (very few phones have this)
-Built in GPS/map
-Fully pertain to screen
-Wallpaper calendar display (impressive so you can see your agenda
Most impressive was also the fact that it was the only smart phone that did not call for a data package plan.
Shortly after I got the phone, I noticed that I was getting content messages some 4-5 hours after they had been sent. Also I had obviously gotten telephone calls that showed up as "missed called" when my phone was on the whole chance.
I took it back to the store and was told they had received alot of complaints about that phone in exact.
I decided to just turn it in and get a BlackBerry as an alternative-which I absolutely love!
The phone could've been a great phone. The features were high-minded but it failed to consistently do simple basic things a phone can do: take home calls and text messages.

Significant value from Costco
First things first: If you fasten to buy this phone for T-Mobile without a contract, buy it from Costco's online wireless amass for $100. Search for it under "prepaid". Of course, the phone works with any contemplate, it's just being sold as a prepaid. They include a unconfined car charger and a carrying case.
OK, on to the phone. No, it's no Android, and no, it doesn't have Wi-fi. And if you're on, or contemplate to be on T-Mobile's pay as you go plan, there's no data plan for this 3G phone! Unnatural, huh? However, that doesn't mean you can't access the internet - when you try to do so, you'll be conversant with that you have to "subscribe" for 1 hour at a time for 99 cents per hour. Idiotic as that seems, for me, it's fine. I use this phone for calls and texting, and if I want the 'net on those rare occasions that I don't have my netbook, I'll pay the 99 cents.
If you're on a verbalize plan, you can add unlimited internet for $10/mo.
There's no shortage for me to go over every feature - you can get the specs elsewhere. So I'll comment on the features I have toughened.
MP3 player - sound is good through the speaker, strike one over headphones/earbuds is very good. I like my music equitably loud, and there really isn't quite enough volume for my Bose headphones, but neither my laptop, netbook, or Resourceful MP3 player have enough power to drive them either, so no knock there. I just use a low-priced little AA battery powered headphone amplifier. I manipulate no need to carry an MP3 player anymore. There's also an FM present and a voice recorder.
GPS - yes, it's great and it's free! A authentic GPS receiver is inside, and maps for just about the whole rapturous are on the SD micro card. You can set the GPS to be assisted by cell towers if you have a evidence plan, otherwise T-Mobile is strictly uninvolved! Your tax dollars at calling keeping the satellites up there, and this phone lets you use them. This is a prime selling point. It is a very nice feature with make over by turn voice navigation.
Touch mesh is nice, I never had one before, so I can't compare this one to anything. The Symbian operating system takes some getting familiar to. My son tells me it's huge in Europe and Asia, and the most commonly employed OS in the world for cell phones. Who knew? That said, it is not very intuitive, and the menus seem inexplicably inconsistent. It undeniably takes some time to learn where all the apps are and how to customize them.
The notion viewer works well, allows you to zoom in and out of pix and arrange them. The camera at 2MP and a plastic lens cannot be expected to be gigantic. Like another reviewer wrote, the camera is hit or coed. Some pictures turn out fine, some turn out bad. The 3X digital zoom is worthless. It just makes the embodiment look like vaseline was smeared on the lens. The video camera is competent, esp. with the ability to go 30 FPS. Again, forget about the zoom. But for compelling snapshots and videos, well, the camera works and is a heck of a lot more than nothing. If I need to take excellent pictures, I'll take my Panasonic Lumix along.
There is a accepted QWERTY keyboard that I use my fingernails on and it works to some well. There's also handwriting recognition (which can be trained by the user) which also works well. Requires a insignificant training if you've never used it before.
Battery life is tiptop. The GPS does run it down however, by constantly pinging the satellites, so fitting be sure the GPS function is off if you're not using it, or plugged into the car charger. WOW THIS PHONE IS Marvellous
I'm so appropriate with my new unlocked cell phones! This has an unbelievably solidly processor, great feel and easy to subject-matter on. I used to own a unlocked htc phones, but I'm so much happier with my trade-mark new unlocked nokia phones. This Nokia Nuron 5230 is so much cured for my business and pulls my email in so much faster. And I actually couldn't be happier with it since it is an unlocked tmobile phones and it's a unlocked 3g phones I can take it abroad. My family loves my new phone and can't get enough of the games. intolerable
The phone was tremendous for about 4 days.
After that the phone started not making a tint when I received a text. I thought it was a setting I must have accidentally changed somehow. But it wasn't. i restarted the phone and would get the colouring for texts for a little while. Then it stopped altogether. Then it stopped showing that I received a issue on the home screen. Then it stopped showing the new communication indicator in the top right hand corner of the grade. Then it stopped showing that I got a new message even after going to messaging. The only way to repress messages was to go into my inbox. This doesn't sound that bad, but for someone who texts a lot it is damned frustrating. I don't want to be constantly checking my phone to see if there's a new bulletin. Today the battery indicated it still had 3 bars Heraldry sinister out of five. Previously, this meant I had at least 24 hours fist on the charge. But today it died within 10 minutes of the three bars. The interface is delayed sometimes. Other than that I have no complaints. I will be taking this phone back tomorrow. Reasonably priced, laudatory touch screen phones don't actually prevail.

Lots of features, but it crashes a lot if you use them.
It's a very caprice phone for the price, but it doesn't work very well if you indeed need all of its features. If you mostly just make calls and sometimes flick through the Internet, it's a very cool phone.
Here's some really substantial stuff:
1. The touchscreen is pretty large and has a weighty resolution for the size.
2. The home screen has 4 indestructible shortcut icons, and another 4 which you can change. The
custom shortcuts can be set to any diligence installed, most menu functions, or any Internet shortcut.
3. The menu system is absolutely customizable. By default it has a fairly standard plans, but you can arrange it any way you want. Not only can the icons be arranged in any improper, but you can move icons in and out of different "folder" levels in the menu. I dumped a cluster of stuff I don't need from the main menu into a unique folder, and then I moved some item which were buried in the "room" menu up to the top level.
4. It includes a mapping program, and it has true satellite-based GPS (not clumsy tower triangulation). The included browser from Nokia works fetching well with real HTML pages, even though it is still not as good as Opera. The GPS use works with Google Maps as well if you want to use that.
5. This is one of T-Quick's least-restricted handsets. It can actually run non-T-Mobile applications, so you mostly do own the phone you bought, untypical most of their handsets.
Now for the problems:
1. It runs out of memory smoothly if multiple applications are used, and sometimes even just 1 relevancy will crash. Applications sometimes just vanish and die when the phone's splendour auto-rotates, so it's best to just unearth off that otherwise-handy feature. Another common theme is crashing if an email notification is played when another pertinence is running.
2. The "menu" on this phone is actually fair another application, and the menu is what you need to open in tranquillity to switch to another running application, or to close a crashed use. The problem here is that if you are using multiple applications (like Opera or Google maps, with email uninterrupted in the background) and the phone says it ran out of memory, you don't get an privilege to choose which application to close. The phone can't unclosed the "menu" (which contains the lame application superintendent function) without killing one of your applications at random.
3. Principally bad is that the Nuron itself can freeze up entirely when an application crashes, requiring either a power-button reboot, or sometimes removing the battery when the power button doesn't drudgery.
4. There is no consistency in whether an application closes or minimizes. There is no way out to choose. Sometimes the end button kills stuff, sometimes it minimizes. Sometimes the phone will despatch stuff if you press the menu button.
5. The email customer is a strange mix of power and incompetence. Even if you use IMAP, the phone has no locale to tell it that it is supposed to stay connected. This can be mostly at a loss for words by setting it to connect every 5 minutes, and it usually stays connected for a link minutes until the phone's mysterious application-arduous impulse strikes it, so functionally you can sometimes get emails in two shakes of a lamb's tail, or it might take up to 5 minutes. It's just a ghetto system. But on the other hand, you can use the IMAP system to link to multiple email accounts as well as multiple folders within an account. I definitely have a hard time imagining the person who wants to synchronize 4 abundant email folders, but also doesn't particularly guardianship whether or not the email system is working at any given time.
One terminating annoyance, which is not unique to this model but is more of a problem here. T-Mechanical has cleverly decided to include a phonebook backup petition on most of their phones, which (without asking for your permission) will save your phonebook contacts to the T-Travelling website. It connects automatically. When checking the on-going applications list, I notice on this particular phone that the "contacts" persistence will sometimes start up on its own. With this phone being so touchy about running more than one germaneness, the last thing I want is to have T-Mobile's marketing tandem join up installing permanent creepy applications which disaffect on at random.
